King of Flatland 25th Anniversary ’Zine

Between 1987 and 1993 the Cote family held the King of Flatland contest series in New Hampshire. This year is the 25th anniversary of KOF, and to celebrate & remember the Cotes are having an anniversary jam on August 4 at Rye Airfield in New Hampshire. (Come if you can make it!)

To commemorate this milestone and jam, I put together a Radazine/Wire anniversary issue. It’s 100 pages long and contains all the King of Flatland stories from the ‘zines I made during those years. These aren’t just scans of the old hard-to-see muddy photocopied ‘zines: I re-scanned the original ‘zines and retouched all the photos (except for the few I couldn’t find) so they’re crystal clear…or at least as clear as I could make 20+ year old photos taken with a crappy film camera.

In addition to that, this ‘zine — actually it’s a perfect-bound book — includes the Freestylin’ article about KOF, a list of all the trophy winners over the years, and dozens more previously-unseen KOF photos. And finally, it comes with an hour-and-a-half DVD of various riders’ routines to bring back tons of memories from those old days at the New Hampshire College gym.

These ‘zines will be available at the KOF jam for $10 each. (That pretty much covers the cost of printing & the DVD; any profits will be donated to the Boys & Girls Club of America.) You can order it online at ewirezine.com/kof25 if you can’t make it to the jam.

Here are a few photos to give you an idea what you’ll be getting (click to view larger versions):
