I’ve been wanting to do a quick video of what tricks I can still do, but shoot and edit it entirely on my iPhone. The first problem was finding a good iPhone tripod mount: there are a lot out there, but most require you to either take your iPhone out of its case or to use a special case with a built-in tripod mount. I want to keep using my case (Otterbox Commuter, for the record) without having to remove my iPhone to mount it to a tripod. I ended up getting the iStabilizer smartphone tripod mount, which clamps onto my encased-iPhone really well without worrying that it would fall off.
For Father’s Day I got a GorillaPod, which is a flexible-legged mini tripod. It’s great for attaching a small camera or flash to an odd place. With that, I was able to attach my iPhone to the tripod, clamp the GorillaPod onto a street hockey goal, and — after some quick work with the iOS version of iMovie — ended up with this video:
Hooray for mobile video technology!
